DAY#253 - Vacation Aftermath
My vacation came to a close this weekend. It was a great trip. Some much needed away from real life time to play. I had confessed in a previous post that I am 'slightly' Disney obsessed. So even though it was a vacation away from work it still was full of stuff to do in Florida. We visited a theme park just about every day and also ate out every day.
There in sat my struggle, at home I have been pretty structured with my eating, I have watched every calorie for months and even my few out to eat splurges have been planned. However, no matter how much I planned for my vacation, planning went out the window when it came to my daily diet.
My vacation schedule pretty much ended up being 1 big meal a day, 1 snack a day and 1 lighter meal. The bad news going into my vacation was I knew that the restaurant meals would be filled with calories and excess salt. Both of which would play havoc on my body. I must say we picked great places to eat and I enjoyed just about every meal I had. :) Just not the hidden calories.
So onto my weight . . . I stopped weighing myself on November 1 and paused my exercise schedule too. I had not weighed myself since. So stepping on the scale this week was a surprise, I was expecting a gain. how much? only Mr. Scale knew.
When I got home Sunday night I weighed myself and the scale had put me at a 20lb weight gain. However, I weighed myself at night vs. in the morning etc and I figured I had additional water weight on me from extra sodium consumption from eating out. So, I decided to give myself a day and weigh myself in the AM. Well my water weight theory was spot on. I went to bed Monday evening and ended up waking up 5 times to go potty over night. And this morning I weighed myself and had already shed 7lbs of weight and I expect my weight to continue to go down for a few more days.
I am planning on continuing my more structured eating & exercise schedule this week and will continue through the end of the year with a small break around Christmas. I expect my weight to bounce back to my before vacation size.
My exercise program starts up tomorrow and I expect that to also help put me back into shape. However, I am not looking forward to my first day back.
