DAY#66 - The Incident
For the past few weeks I have been secretly starving. Starving for some weight loss attention. :) But the attention I desired was hard to come by. I wanted someone to notice that I was loosing weight THAT was not following my blog or facebook. Someone that had no clue I was trying. This felt like a near impossible task due to the fact that taking my weight loss public meant telling everyone ahead of time I was trying. And by doing that I shot myself in the foot.
There have been a handful of people telling me I look better and noticing my weight loss. They all know I am on my journey so they don't count. I needed to find someone that had no clue I was trying to notice. This somehow would validate my efforts.
Which brings me to last night. I went shopping at Costco a 2-3 time a month ritual for my family. We buy tons of stuff there. It is our main grocery store. They have great bulk items for a family of 7 and their meat, fruits & veggies are fresh and taste great. So I walked in the door with my crew greeted the greeter lady with a flash of my membership card and she looked at me and said, "You have been loosing weight you look great." WHAT?? First off, I had no idea anyone at Costco knew me. I looked at her and said, "How do you know? and how could you possibly remember me out of thousands of people?"
She explained that out of thousands there are people that stick out to her, perhaps cause they remind her of other people she knows and she has noticed me cause we show up regularly and that I have lost weight. SCORE!! VALIDATION!!
A stranger noticed!!!!! It must be true! Happy day!!! that is enough motivation to keep going for a few more.
Costco was already near the top of my chart when it comes to places to shop. this event will keep it there for a long time. Costco, good prices and the occasional complement! w00t!
