DAY#8 - Come as you are
It has been a week since I started on my newest journey and I want to thank you for being part of it. I really appreciate your help!
Sixteen years ago this May, I had the worst month of my life. First, my father passed away in a farming accident and a week later a tornado/wind shear ripped apart the same farm where he died. Our family had been hit hard. After witnesing the devistation on our farm, I felt pretty hopeless. The roof of our one barn had blown off and smashed into the other barn leaving a huge mess and tons of chickens that needed to be relocated.
Within an hour dozens of neighbors, friends, and relatives converged on our farm to help us put back the pieces. Not only did they show up the first night but day after day for several weeks volunteers came to lend us a hand. It was an incredible experience. I can still get choked up when I think about it. Within 2 weeks the roof was back on our barn.
I learned a lot that month. One of the things I will never forget is this Bible verse I came across the day after the accident.
If one falls down, his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
This verse has been with me for the last 16 years and this week it rang true to me again. With that in mind: I have talked to so many people this week who have called, written, or talked to me personally about their need to loose weight too. Some of them have been on their journey for months, some of them are starting today. I want to invite those of you who are in the same boat as me to join me the more the merrier. Post your thoughts, feelings & struggles to my Facebook page. I would love to hear your story and help share your burden. Perhaps, we can even form an accountability group. Remember, If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Here are some old pics of the accident, our friends and the new roof.
