The struggle to become half the man i used to be . . .

DAY#139 - Progress Check #20
It is Sunday morning 7:00am and I and bringing you my weekly progress check. Yesterday was the Mid Cap Swimming Championships in Mechanicsburg. Caleb was one of the top 16 boys in our region for the backstroke so it was another early morning. He was seated 14th before the race and ended up taking 8th place. So very proud of him!!!!! w00t!

I now weigh 230lbs. This past week on Wednesday I started phase 3 of my diet protocol at 233lbs. My goal is to maintain 233lbs within 2lbs for a minimum of 3 weeks. I was pretty sure and pretty afraid that I would gain weight and struggle to keep it at 233lbs. But to my surprise so far I have dropped another 3lbs and need to work at getting it back up. Who da thought? not me.

I have consulted with the HCG peeps I follow on yahoo and a few of them got back to me. One said her husband lost 5lbs at the start of phase 3 and stayed there. Another said it will slowly come back. And a third, a nurse said my body just sucked in the nutrients because it was missing them and it might be that way for a few days and then I will level off. So I am hoping that to be the case.

On phase 3, I need to eat whatever calories my body needs. So i went to several calorie calculators on the internet and entered my gender, weight, height, activity level and age and they spit out what they think I should consume a day to maintain my weight. All of them were slightly different. they ranged form 2500-3000 calories a day. So that is my goal. To start I tried to take it easy, On friday I ate 1500 calories and on Saturday 1700 and today I am hoping for 2000. By Tuesday I am hoping to hit 2500 calories and then stay there and see what happens.

Eating food is hard work and getting enough calories is not easy. Remember I still can have no sugar or starch. So I need to rely on good healthy natural fats and proteins to make up a bulk of my diet while in phase 3. To do this I found Jay Robb protein powders and i mix them in some heavy cream and water with ice in a blender in the morning for breakfast. This makes for a tasty shake and gives me a ton of calories and protein and so far seems to be working for me. Jay Robb is a tasty protein drink and is sweetened with stevia so no carbs to worry about. And yes as always I found it on amazon. links are below, if you are interested. LOL The pina colada flavor has me right now. YUM.

I have pretty much cut out fruit for a few days. A few people recommend cutting out fruit for my few days of phase 3 then adding it back in slowly. So I am heading their advice and gonna add back in a serving of strawberries today and see how that goes. OK so now I am off to have my pina colada protein shake and then to church. :)

My favorite Protein mixes:
